Burger belongs to exactly one of those sins that one has to indulge from time to time. I remember that in America the standard combination is burger and shake. Unfortunately for my European stomach the combination was so disgusting so that the rest of the day I spent between the bed and toilet. Anyway, in Prague, The Tavern is one of the must-visit places. The menu is varied and it only depends on your cravings. Their usual combination is burger served with beer. Simply the Czech way.
The space is small. On the other hand, it is a big advantage. Sometimes you come across different nationalities, so you feel like you are somewhere in the world, not in Prague. The menu is quite large, but you quickly find your favorite. The service is ok. They encourage you to try either Blue Smoke Burger or Classic Bacon and Cheddar.
Their is a selection of beers and also homemade lemonades. I tried raspberry lemonade.
The tables are quite close together, but thanks to the noise, you do not feel disturbed. At least you can see the plates of others and immediately the selection of food is very quick:). I was blown away by pecan pie which is a must-try on my second visit!
We went for BBQ Chicken Bruger Supreme and Blue Smoke Burger with fries. Burger with the chicken was really huge! The only way how to eat it was to cut it in the half by fork and knife. Blue Smoke was pretty small and the caramelized onion was a nice suprise. From time to time, it is good to experiment a little and to try something different. Ohh, and fries were amazing!
The strategy is very clear for the next time. I will share a burger with my friend, together with the basket of fries, and we will finish the meal with pecan pie! Summer is fast approaching, but The Tavern is much closer now! Carpe diem.
