I have always liked traveling. Although I did not travel the whole world (yet!), I have lived alone in a foreign country a few times and it was the time when I learned the most. Therefore, I put together a couple of observations which are the main benefits of traveling.
1. YOU WILL MEET PEOPLE FROM MANY BACKGROUNDS
As they say, everyone should understand the lives of the poor and the rich. And deal with people of different ages and nationalities. I met so many amazing people during my travels! Love it.
2. YOU WILL GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
And this is how you grow. You are not really gaining any experience when you just do your daily routine over and over. It may be studying abroad or trying something new. Anyway, it will move you to some other place. A better one.
3. YOU WILL EXPERIENCE NEW THINGS
This is how I experienced Christmas with Brazilians. And New Year. Although I missed Czech Christmas (culture shock is a little bastard), it was definitely an interesting experience.
4. YOU WILL SEE THE WORLD WITH DIFFERENT EYES
While traveling, you live at different place than your home, you meet other people, you go to different events, you experience different things. Some experiences are worth it, while on the other side, you want to rather forget the others. Do not. Either way, you gain more than if you repeat you routine at home. And the more you appreciate what you have.
5. YOU WILL BE FORCED TO LIVE ON YOUR OWN
You are always depending on yourself, even at home. But abroad - it's harder. You might not understand the language, you do not know whom to contact, what to do in a given situation. And most significantly, you should first of all feel good with yourself. Only then, you can be an excellent companion.
6. YOU WILL TAKE THE MOST OUT OF YOUR LIFE
Although it sounds as a cliché, it is not. Only few people can truly enjoy life. At home, you have enough time for everything, but when you are abroad, you do not have an infinite period of time and you just want to get the most of your experience. You live more intensively. Now, I was sick and while at home, I would tell myself that I will just relax and enjoy doing nothing, here I missed a trip and other events.
7. YOU WILL APPRECIATE YOUR OWN CULTURE AND COUNTRY
People make fun of American how they have their flag everywhere and they are proudly from the USA. It might sometimes exaggerate, but it's definitely better position than sit and grumble at everything around you. And yes, everyone is a master of criticism of everything around.
8. YOU MIGHT REALIZE WHAT REALLY MAKES YOU HAPPY
I thought that above all, I adore fashion and design and everything around that. However, I realized that those things do not make me happier and happier. But when I travel, so I have the adrenalin which comes from going somewhere, the unknown, and I really enjoy it.
9. YOU WILL UNDERSTAND YOURSELF MUCH BETTER
This is one of the biggest beenfits of solo travel. Nothing else will be there, just you and your thoughts. Well, you must deal with that..somehow. I'm allergic to people who must have a babysitter around them all the time. It is better to be able to live without nannies. And be satisfied with yourself.
10. YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE CULTURES
And will you use it in both professional and personal life. In today's world, Czechs can be hardly surrounded only with Czechs. Thank God.
